Scratch My Back with a Hacksaw

October 7th, 2009 | by anthonyblake |

Since this is my first day taking over this gig for my favorite team on ice since birth, I figured I would give a generic introduction before getting into the meat and potatoes of the hockey analysis. My name is Anthony M. Blake and I am now officially the Pittsburgh Penguins Correspondent. I have been a fan of the Pens since I could comprehend the game of hockey being western Pennsylvania born and raised. I have made many trips to the Civic/Mellon Arena (yeah, that’s right. I’m diehard enough to remember when it was the Civic Arena) and enjoyed each one more than its predecessor. Even through the doldrums of the late 90’s and early 2000’s I remained loyal to the ‘Guins and maintained my allegiances through and through. I am old enough to remember Mario on skates next to Kevin Stevens. Bob Errey and Paul Steigerwald give Mike Lange a run for his money calling the games and I haven’t missed one in what feels like forever.

That’s all the more prolonged and painful this intro is going to get so don’t forget to check back for some analysis of the games as the season progresses. Thanks for checking out the Pens and hopefully you will become a loyal reader of my work.
